A Mirror For The Sun - Suzy-Annick

We have installed our latest art collection by Suzy-Annick. This collection is a very colourful and sunny collection of painting and prints that bring a taste of holidays and sunshine to our salon and gallery.

Suzy-Annick puts her life on canvas, which reflect her adventure and passions. Whether she is hunting for fresh powder in the trees of Whistler or carving the face of waves in Honolua Bay, Maui; Suzy-Annick is always searching for that rush. It is during these times that moments and impressions have touched her. These moments are embodied in her art. The diversity in her dreams, desires, and pursuits of happiness are so visible in her "abstract naturals".... you can almost touch it, the feelings are so strong.

Rather than paint a landscape from a photograph or even a specific geographic location, she prefers to draw her glowing imagery from within herself as a reflection of internal beauty filtered through an autobiographic brush. Her fearlessness and desire to always experience more has taken her through Europe, Japan, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal and Panama. Each destination has left it's mark and it's inspiration can be found in her art today. Every one of her pieces has a little of Suzy-Annick's story and is left to be interpreted into it's own story through the eye of the beholder.

Suzy-Annick currently shares her time between the North Shore of Oahu, Vancouver and Whistler, BC.

Our newest show is going up!! It is a photography exhibit featuring 4 local talents. We gave them the topic and they went and shot it. The results are as unique as the 4 individuals that shot it. It is a great testament to how each human being behind a camera contributes their own eye to the technical skills. They also chose to use different styles of cameras, with Mike and Barry choosing to shoot using digital and Aaron and Lauren choosing to use medium format film. This is one NOT to be missed!

The opening show will be on December 6th.... check out the invite here:

If you can't make the fundraiser, then feel free to stop into Verve Hair Lounge to take a peek.

"DIGITAL LACE"
Heather Briggs - Graphics Artist
Spray Paint on Canvas

Heather is a Graphic Artist. She has worked in the fashion arena for most of her career, she currently owns her own boutique branding agency that specializes in fashion, health and lifestyle brand management. Heather describes her piece, "DIGITAL LACE" as "a graphic exploration of spray paint as a painting medium. The goal was to achieve a textured and feminine application of a traditionally very strong and linear style. The effect was achieved by stenciling lace and adding depth through a soft layering of bold and electric shades of spray paint applied with a soft touch and large spray paint nozzle."

"GREEN DOG, BLUE CITY"
Dave McGhee - Mixed Media Artist
Spray Paint on Canvas

Dave is a mixed media artist who uses anything from markers and charcoal through to automotive paint to explore his creativity. Dave jumped on board with the event because it was a "good opportunity because I normally wouldn't have done something like this (live painting). I felt comfortable doing it because of past events, I attended Verve's Grand Opening and it was a lot of fun, so I thought it would be another fun event. It was great to be involved in something with Verve for charity. It was a fun day! I'd do it again for sure." Dave's painting "GREEN DOG, BLUE CITY" is both whimsical and urban with bold use of unexpected colours.
